A young woman named Jackie is torn between her steady boyfriend Pete and a mysterious man she met on vacation named Mr. Turner, a wealthy widower with glamorous appeal. When Pete proposes his plan for a modest future together—a trailer home and eventual house—Jackie accepts a date with Turner instead, but Turner's true character emerges through his jealous, controlling behavior and his low opinion of Jackie's background. After Turner mistreats her and Jackie encounters Pete again, she realizes that Pete's genuine love and modest dreams are far more valuable than Turner's superficial wealth and charm, reconciling with Pete by story's end.
