Secret Marshal Rocky Lane encounters the outlaw Anse Holman and his gang at a lost horse mine, where Holman is using gold from the mine to finance his criminal operations. Rocky's search for the missing daughter of a man he encounters leads him into confrontation with Holman's band, with the trail of the escaped gang taking him south toward the border. In a saloon, Rocky engages with men claiming to be Australian beaver skin hat sellers, but their deceptive dealings and the tension over the genuine Australian beaver hat lead to complications before Rocky ultimately works to stop Holman's schemes.
