A young woman named Flora meets a man at a seaside resort and falls in love with him, but believes herself cursed with "bad luck" that will harm anyone close to her. Despite her warnings, the man pursues her, and they share romantic moments together including a swimming race and time in Nepal attempting to climb Mount Everest. When Flora ultimately rejects his embrace out of fear her curse will hurt him, he leaves; however, he later returns and convinces her to give their relationship another chance, planning a springtime outing to see an apple tree in bloom together.
