Romantic Story #31 (1956) This issue contains two romantic stories. The first follows Jim and Eileen, who fall in love and plan to marry, but Eileen breaks their engagement when Jim must leave on a long-distance assignment, telling him she wants nothing more in life and cannot bear the uncertainty. After arranging for a nurse to care for Mrs. Sievers' children, Jim and Eileen part at the airport, where Jim declares his undying love as the plane takes off. The second story, "The Troubled Heart," features Roy, an actor, and Norma, an actress, who cannot marry because Roy refuses to accept an actor's unstable life; Norma spends years working as a salesgirl in a department store while waiting for Roy, but when he finally leaves the theater and becomes a serious working man, he discovers her sacrifice and they reunite by a river, ready to marry at last.
