Helen and Rod's marriage is tested when Rod becomes involved in a stolen-car ring operating out of a garage. After initially hiding the truth from Helen, Rod confesses his unwilling participation to her, revealing he was coerced into the operation and warning her to stay silent about his involvement for her own safety. Helen struggles with the knowledge of Rod's criminal entanglement while attempting to protect their relationship, though Rod's desperation and fear of the criminals involved threaten to destroy the trust between them.
