Sabu, the Elephant Boy, embarks on a safari adventure with explorer Martin Blackson and a girl named Nella, but two thieves steal the expedition's jewels and flee into the jungle. When a leopard attacks the girl during their pursuit, Sabu drives the beast away and rescues her. The thieves are captured in a pit trap, and Sabu prepares for a celebratory hunt in the village of Zaru, planning to use a lion's skin and zebra to lure and capture the animals for the feast while foiling the villainous Zaru's scheme to seize power through drugging the tribal noose used in the hunt.
