School Friend #217 is an anthology issue featuring three stories: "The Riding Mystery at Moorland School," in which June Farmer and Roberta Page investigate mysterious marks and clues related to Wendy Glynn's disappearance, eventually discovering a secret door in an old clock tower; "Trudy and the Chinese Willow Pattern," where Trudy Franklin travels to China and becomes caught up in a smuggling plot involving a willow pattern and the Lotus Flower order, ultimately escaping with help from her companions; and "Kim and Heather on the Gypsy Trail," in which Kim and Heather Dixon pursue a mystery girl across a gypsy caravan trail, only to have the girl vanish and leave them a cryptic message about a gypsy map. A fourth story, "The Case of the Dark Green Shoes," involves customs officials uncovering that a notorious diamond smuggler named Blanche Marchant used green shoes hidden in a customs case to transport diamonds.
