Inspector Farnsworth of Scotland Yard investigates "Kudo Gillers in the Swami's Last Séance," in which a con man operating in the farm area outside London sells faulty car plugs guaranteed to last two years while collecting payments. The police gather evidence from the steering wheel prints left in glass by Mr. Matson at a séance arranged by the criminal, leading to Gillers' arrest. A secondary narrative follows Detective Captain O'Rourke's compassionate intervention in the life of a young boy, Jimmy Schmidt, whom he encounters after the child attempts a petty robbery to pay for his mother's medical operation, ultimately offering the boy a path toward becoming a good cop.
