Secret Mysteries #19

This anthology issue contains two main stories. The first, "Music of Mystery," features two Western explorers marveling at a Hindu performer's ability to control a cobra, suggesting that Eastern peoples possess mysterious powers beyond Western understanding. The second story centers on Mr. Walton, who confesses to hiring a poor boy to hide in his house and stage ghostly pranks in order to frighten his wealthy employer Mrs. Meade into having a heart attack so he could inherit her ten-thousand-dollar bequest, though Mrs. Meade survives and rewards the boy for his good home. Additionally, the issue includes "The Fantastic Dr. Foo," in which a Chinese scientist and patriot helps American police catch a gang of international jewel thieves by using his fantastic scientific knowledge to aid in their capture.
