In this Tex Ritter story, a bank president reveals that gold has been hidden in the vault, and criminals plot to steal it by robbing a stagecoach. When the robbery fails, the thieves attempt an elaborate trap involving a showboat to lure Tex into an ambush at Sheriff Shaw's office, but their scheme backfires when they shoot a dummy instead of their target. Tom Mix arrives to help capture the criminals as the outlaws are foiled in their final attempt to eliminate the lawmen.
