Sheriff Bander reports that outlaw Hyar has disappeared with stolen gold, and sets out with his men to track him down through the hills. When they locate Hyar's hideout, a fight ensues, but Hyar escapes on horseback. The sheriff pursues Hyar to a horse race, where Hyar plans to use a fresh mount to flee town with the gold. In the climactic race, the sheriff's men manage to stop Hyar and recover the stolen varmint before he can escape with his prize.
