This issue features two main stories. "Lodgepole Lore" presents a Plains Indian medicine man who uses magical words and hand gestures to restore a mortally wounded warrior to life after a hollow arrowhead shatters on contact, with the victim's blood enabling the "magic." "Tales of the Tipi: The White Comanche" is set during the 1836 Texas frontier, following a Comanche war chief named Pahawka who kidnaps a white woman and child; the story depicts Steve Adams and Packy's efforts to rescue them while being hunted by Apache raiders and a cougar in the Broken Bow region.
