Straight Arrow #22

Red Hawk Red Hawk, a young Cheyenne warrior, is sent by the great chief Hiawatha across the grassy plains to unite the Indian tribes of North America in bonds of peace. During his wanderings into the deep pelican country, Red Hawk encounters the "Beast of the Bayous" and fights for his very life. Meanwhile, the proud warrior Loud Calf seeks to become chief by organizing a buffalo hunt to gain wealth and respect for his tribe, but Red Hawk challenges him to a fair contest, meeting him two nights hence at Lost Valley for a decisive riding duel that will determine who deserves to be chief. After the confrontation, Straight Arrow becomes involved in the situation at Sundown Valley to help the troubled Steve Adams.
