Straight Arrow #28

Straight Arrow battles the Cheyenne and a hostile force called the Blackfeet across the Missouri River plains and fog-shrouded shores. After being defeated in combat, Straight Arrow escapes to consult with his friend Wound, a medicine man, who reveals he has performed miracles using tricks with talc powder and fire to convince the Cheyenne that he has cured their wounded warriors. Straight Arrow adopts these same deceptive methods—coating arrows with lead, using talc to create the illusion of miraculous healing—to prove to his people that he has performed miracles and won their trust, ultimately bringing peace to the tribe.
