Rochester, in which a young gypsy boy named Ned and his dog Wagger help recover a stolen fox and uncover a ring of chicken thieves; "Wild Bill Hickok and the Creaking Door Saloon," featuring the famous marshal investigating mysterious disappearances of men in Kansas and tracking them to a sinister saloon; and "Chums of Hawkhurst and the Traitor of the School," in which schoolboy Jimmy Baxter investigates who fired an ink pellet at the science master and suspects sabotage within his circle of friends.
