This is an anthology issue containing multiple stories. "Maxie's Last Fight" depicts a boxing match where the aging fighter Maxie defeats Kid Fargo in a hard-fought bout, with Maxie prevailing despite his age and the kid's youth and strength. Another story features a man terrorized by mysterious laughing and strange farm animal sounds at night, with neighbors also disturbed by the commotion, though the cause remains ambiguous. A third story follows struggling writers attempting to pitch their work to the publisher Carver, who rejects their scripts harshly, ultimately resulting in a supernatural or darkly ironic twist when one writer's rejected manuscript mysteriously comes to life or produces otherworldly consequences.
