An artist named Medford seeks revenge against his uncle Jennings by plotting to use a portrait of Jennings to manipulate and humiliate him. After Jennings refuses to support Medford financially, Medford creates a mysterious portrait intended to force Jennings to his knees. Meanwhile, a newspaper editor named Elmer Evans becomes entangled in a scheme involving the amusement center business, where he learns of suspicious dealings with competitors Folliwell, Bourk, and Company. Evans attempts to verify whether the struggling company is genuinely in trouble or if foul play is involved.
