Back at a remote camp, Tony (Gabe's friend) offers to help the couple by taking over camp duties, but when Amy refuses to settle for a modest life in town, she begins flirting with other men. At a beach gathering, Amy competes in a swimming competition and attracts the attention of Ace Ryan, a charming stranger who shows interest in her, causing jealousy and conflict as Gabe struggles with his health condition and Amy's wandering affections.
