This issue features two stories. The first, "Disapproval," follows a girl who struggles with her father's disapproval of her friends, leading her to keep them secret despite believing she is better than other kids, until a boy named Johnny Webb shows romantic interest in her and her father forbids the relationship. The second story, "Love or Love?," chronicles Ethel's four-month courtship with Jim, during which he proposes five times; her mother questions whether she can find a better match, but Ethel ultimately realizes that marriage is a serious decision and chooses to accept Jim's proposal, while the narrative reflects on the importance of finding a partner with compatible qualities for a successful marriage.
