Terry Lee investigates the disappearance of two managers from a French Indo-China plantation owned by Baron de Plexus, following a lead that takes him aboard a train where he encounters police and discovers crucial clues about the case. After evading the authorities and meeting with an old acquaintance named Connie, Terry travels to a hotel where he reconnects with a woman named M'sieu, who assists him in his investigation while they share meals and conversation about the unfolding mystery.
