This anthology issue contains two Western stories. "Iron Caravan of the Mojave" depicts a conflict over control of a water hole in the desert, with characters Barbara and Gramps seeking to retrieve it from the antagonist Driscoll and his hired gunsingers, eventually recruiting help from the Bar-S ranch. The second story, "Secret of the Sands," follows The Hawk and other characters dealing with Apache conflicts, including encounters with Chief Aguila and references to a mescalero Apache smoke signal, culminating in a tense negotiation regarding tribal warfare.
