The Hawk #8

The issue features three stories: "Dry River Rampage," in which desperados run amuck in a bullet-swept town; "Leverett's Last Stand," where Federal Marshal Bob Hardie (the Hawk) and his small band of defenders, including Charlie Leverett and Marie Temple, mount a valiant defense against Apache forces attacking an Army munitions train in the New Mexico desert; and "Trap for a Killer," a prelude story involving Spade and other characters plotting in a gambling hall to ambush the Hawk in the desert by using buzzards as bait at the Angel Water hole. The issue also includes an educational feature, "Creatures of the Western Badlands," describing desert wildlife including the Gila monster, armadillo, horned-toad, prairie dog, and road runner.
