Princess Pantha and her friend Dane journey to the village of M'Tongo in the African jungle, where they encounter white traders seeking a golden idol and learn of the traders' interest in acquiring valuable ornaments from the native people. In a separate story, the Phantom Detective is called upon to investigate a murder case involving a man named Johnson, whose death is initially ruled a heart attack but shows signs of foul play; Richard Van Loan receives the urgent radio call summoning the Phantom and must abandon his evening plans to respond to the case.
