Tim Holt #3

The main story, "Tim Holt's Last Ride," involves a wooden statue carved from elderwood that holds the fate of thousands of innocent people within its gaudily painted exterior. When the statue falls into Tim Holt's hands at a curio shop in the rail-end town of Abilene, it sets off a chain of events involving criminals who want to possess it. After being struck unconscious and losing his memory, Tim rides deliriously through a downpour and is rescued by railroad workers, eventually discovering that the statue's ownership is tied to a plot involving a traitor working with Apache forces planning to raid tool boxes needed to lay railroad tracks near Apache Arroyo.
