Tim McCoy #16
This is an anthology western comic featuring multiple stories. The main story depicts outlaws Mason and his gang planning a bank robbery at Miller's Bank, with members Buck and Sandy sent to a hideout while others execute the front and back entrances; the scheme is foiled when law enforcement intervenes. A secondary feature tells the historical account of Portugee Phillips, an Indian fighter and scout, who undertook a legendary 230-mile horseback ride through a blizzard in forty-eight hours to deliver news of an Indian war and secure relief supplies for Fort Phil Kearney, an exploit that saved the besieged soldiers. The issue also includes an advertisement for Gene Autry and his horse Champ in a new Republic Pictures western series.
