"The Sailor on the Range" follows Tom Mix as he investigates a weapon—a belaying pin used on sailing ships—that was found at the scene where Mike disappeared and is now being held in Sheriff Mike's office. Tom discovers that Mainmast Thompson, an ex-sailor, is connected to the case, and he and his companions Andy and Hank pursue Thompson to get answers. Meanwhile, Tom encounters the Jordan family at a well where several men have mysteriously vanished, including Cody Woolley and Jim Hollow, and discovers their bodies hidden in the well. Tom rescues his young son Tony from danger during a climactic confrontation with the criminals at the Jordan property.
