True Comics #8

True Comics #8 is an anthology presenting factual biographical stories. Featured stories include an account of Elsie MacGill, a Canadian aviation engineer who overcame paralysis from childhood illness to become a pioneering aircraft designer and writer on aviation engineering. Another story covers Dr. John Franklin Baker, who studied law and became a statistician for the Southern Pacific Railroad before being called to China in 1916, where he supervised the construction of 850 miles of road and dikes to combat floods and famine, later becoming an adviser to the Ministry of Railways. The issue also includes "Builder of a Paradise," the story of King Kamehameha I of Hawaii, who as a boy was skilled in Hawaiian sports and warfare before uniting the islands.
