This issue contains two main stories. "Their Star Pupil" depicts a Chinese pilot named Liu Chen who is sent from his home in China to Moscow for advanced flight training, only to discover he has been deceived—the Soviets intend to use him as propaganda and later eliminate him. With American assistance, he escapes and defects. "The Impossible Target" follows a B-25 bomber crew executing a dangerous low-level bombing run on the San Goberto Bridge in occupied territory; during the mission, one of the bomber's guns malfunctions, but the crew successfully completes their objective despite German fighter opposition and damage to their aircraft.
