This anthology issue contains "A Small Matter of Time," in which Professor Amos Shute is discredited by his associates for his theories about multiple worlds and identical obscure galaxies, then summons youthful believers to his laboratory to demonstrate a scale facsimile globe programmed to send space ships to assigned planets. A man sent to 1914 Eastern Europe must prevent an assassination that will plunge the world into war, learning that his destination year will be 1939 and he must stop a dictator from involving that world in war. "The Thing in the Ledge" features a hunter and his companions who encounter a mysterious creature in a cave that physically manifests and pulls one of them into a rocky crevasse, causing terror among the group as they debate whether they have witnessed something unreal or genuinely supernatural.
