War Birds #1
This anthology issue contains three war aviation stories. "Sneak Geek at 60,000" follows a pilot observing enemy aircraft movements at high altitude, discovering a dangerous situation involving damaged landing gear and fiery cartwheel crashes. "The Big Blast-Out" depicts an air battle over Europe during 1943 in which Allied fighter pilots engage German Luftwaffe aircraft attacking a city, with narration describing Germany's rapid gains in the air war. "Willie the Washout" follows Lieutenant Bill Walton on his first bombing mission, opening bomb bay doors and executing a bombing run from a B-17 bomber, though complications arise when he must attempt to slow the aircraft while holding back enemy fighters.
