"Gift of the Jungle Gods" follows traders and explorers searching for the legendary Dr. Livingstone in the interior of Tanganyika, eventually locating him near Lake Tanganyika after months of travel. "The Invincible Weapon" depicts a confrontation between dying Ashanti chief Osan and white hunter Frederik Von Staat, in which Osan imparts wisdom to his son Kiota about the destructive nature of Von Staat's rifle, urging him to hunt only for food rather than sport. Wild Boy arrives at a village the following morning and is welcomed by Chief Oriki, though tension arises when Forbes and other men arrive seeking to locate and capture Wild Boy.
