Yanks in Battle #1

American soldiers undertake a covert mission to probe Yugoslav military strength and prepare for a potential invasion, transporting fifty captured professors aboard a freighter while guards defend the ship. When Red commandos attack, the soldiers engage in combat to protect their cargo and prevent the enemy from radioing out a message. After successfully repelling the Yugoslav forces, the soldiers are rewarded with a two-week furlough in the French Riviera. Soldier Bill Critten is assigned a transfer and spends weeks waiting for it while stationed in the woods, eventually hearing mysterious voices in the night that he fears may be enemy forces.
