"The Man Around Her House," attributed to Don Amiss, tells the story of a man named Hank who falls in love with a woman named Anne at first sight and struggles to control his emotions around her. After Anne rejects him for wearing a clumsy gown, Hank works to prove he can control his temper, but later learns Anne has a boyfriend named Pete. When Hank discovers Pete's address in a shabby rooming house and goes to confront him, he finds Anne there and must ultimately accept that she is not meant for him.
