Cordia discolor Cham., Herbarium Specimen
This is a pressed and mounted botanical herbarium specimen of *Cordia discolor* Cham., a flowering shrub in the borage family (Boraginaceae), collected in 1831. The sheet shows a dried stem bearing ovate, toothed leaves and small clustered flowers, mounted on archival paper with a color calibration strip and institutional barcodes visible at right. This object is not a cartoon or caricature. It belongs to the tradition of scientific natural history illustration and specimen documentation — a practice that ran parallel to print satire in the 18th and 19th centuries, both disciplines relying on precise, reproducible visual records. No satirical content, figures, or caricature are present.
