Herbarium Isolectotype: Ternstroemia sylvatica Schlechtendal & Chamisso
This is not a cartoon or caricature. It is a pressed botanical specimen — an isolectotype of *Ternstroemia sylvatica* collected by Schiede and Deppe in sylvan habitat between Jalapa and San Andrés, Mexico, at elevations between 4,000 and 6,000 feet. The sheet, held at the California Academy of Sciences and cross-referenced to the Natural History Museum (BM accession 000041987), carries original handwritten field notes, detached seeds on a paper mount, a color-calibration strip, and a ruler. No satirical content, printmaking technique, or caricature tradition is present or applicable. A wall label for a print-satire exhibition cannot honestly be written from this image.
