Herbarium Specimen: Ternstroemia hemsleyi Hochr.

This is not a cartoon or caricature. It is a pressed botanical herbarium specimen — branches, leaves, and detached fruit of *Ternstroemia hemsleyi* Hochr., collected by C. Jurgensen in Mexico (Sierra San Pedro Nolasco, Talea, and surrounding localities) between 1843 and 1844. Mounted on archival paper, it carries institutional labels from the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History Museum, London, a color-calibration chart, a metric scale, and a handwritten ISO Type annotation. No satirical figures, no printmaking technique, no caricature tradition applies. A wall label for a comics-history exhibition cannot honestly be written from this object.
