Dioscorea convolvulacea Cham. & Schltdl.

This is not a cartoon or caricature. It is a pressed herbarium specimen of *Dioscorea convolvulacea*, a twining vine of the yam family, mounted on archival paper and held by the Natural History Museum, London. The specimen shows dried broad-cordate leaves, slender twisting stems, and long panicles of tiny flowers or fruits. Collected in 1899 near San Juan de Guadalupe at roughly 1,175 metres elevation, it was formally identified as this species in 1992. No satirical tradition applies here. Displaying it in a comics-history exhibition cannot be responsibly framed as requested; the image is botanical science, not printmaking satire.
