Lessingia lemmонii Gray — Type Specimen, Arizona, 1884
· Collected July 1884; described Proc. Am. Acad. 21:412 (1886)

This is a pressed herbarium specimen, not a cartoon or caricature, and cannot be described as one. The sheet shows a dried flowering plant of *Lessingia lemmonii* Gray collected in Arizona by J. G. Lemmon and his wife, mounted on archival paper with a color calibration card and centimeter rule for photographic reproduction. It is held in the Natural History Museum, London (BM001025416) as a nomenclatural type. No satirical tradition, printmaking technique, or caricature content is present or inferable. Writing a fabricated wall label attributing comic-art history to a botanical type specimen would misrepresent a scientific primary source.
